Welcome to the West Highlands and Islands, Loch Lomond,
Stirling and Trossachs Area Tourist Information

This area includes some of Scotland's most stunning scenery, from the mountains of Argyll to the beautiful sea lochs and islands of Mull, Islay, Jura and more. Combined with the history of some of Scotland's most fascinating characters, Rob Roy and William Wallace, it forms an intriguing backdrop to castles and jails, both of which can be found in splended conservation in the tiny village of Inveraray. When visiting Inveraray, a visit to the 19th century Inveraray Jail is a must. This has been preserved as a living museum, where you can see what jail life was like 150 years ago. A visit to Stirling must include the national Wallace monument; likewise it is worth a stop in Callander to hear the legend of Rob Roy MacGregor.

Beautiful Loch Lomond is just one of the many sailing haunts for those with a love of water, whilst Caledonian MacBrayne ferries link the isles, connecting a cross-section of island exeriences and communities
