Perthshire is a lush, rolling landscape,
dotted with interesting little towns and villages. The famous Scone
Palace lies just outside Perth, displaying treasures from around
the world. The Glenturret Distillery in Crieff is Scotland's oldest,
whilst by contrast you will find Scotland's smallest and probably
most picturesque, The Edradaur, just outside Pitlochry. This town
is a popular tourist stop-over, with quaint shops and tearooms,
and of course the famous Pitlochry Theatre.
Heading north from Pitlochry lies the
village of Blair Atholl, famous for Blair Castle, the home of the
Dukes of Atholl. A guided tour provides a feeling for Scottish life
from the 16th century to the present day.
South of Pitlochry, the turning for
Aberfeldy and Loch Tay sees beautiful scenery all along to the head
of the loch and the Falls of Dochart at Killin. Here a visit to
the Breadalbane Folklore Centre provides a fascinating insight into
the myths, legends, wildlife and clan history of this area.
