Welcome to the Scottish Borders Area Tourist Information

The Scottish Borders is an area steeped in history from the time of the Romans. Many a battle has been fought over the centuries across this area, where definitive boundaries have often changed. The remains of border abbeys can be visited at Kelso, Jedburgh, Dryburgh and Melrose, the latter also being famous for the site of one of the largest Roman forts, built at the nearby village of Newstead.

A softer landscape than further North, the Borders in particular is popular with both walkers and cyclists, and many accommodation establishments at all levels offer suitable specialised packages.
