About this Directory

The Tour Scotland Directory has been personally researched and compiled by experienced hoteliers who know what visitors to Scotland are looking for.

For over twelve years we ran a hotel ourselves in the Scottish Highlands, and over that period became very frustrated at not easily being able to find a decent hotel when we go away. We don't like faceless corporate hotels with no character, they all look the same, and we do like good food: one of us was for some years an AA Rosette chef, and is very particular!

So as a complement to our own hotel and web site design businesses we decided to start our own Internet directory of the sort of hotels we would stay in. Most are independently owned, with at least a two star rating and most have recognised awards for good food. However, we are well aware that there are some hotels and guest houses out there which serve first class food but for one reason or another do not actually have an award. This should not prevent them from being included in the directory. Our only pre-requisite is that the food is good: awards are not everything!

Please let us have your comments and any recommendations you may have for hotels which we have missed out. Tell us also if you have problems with any of the hotels on the site, and we will look into this and possibly remove them.
